Tea can be prepared in many ways according to the whims and fancies of the consumers. As there are many combinations of tea and tea mixes, the method of brewing are quite different to the older traditional way.
However, as the majorities by far, are still those who prefer a good cup of pure tea, either black or green, it is appropriate to mention the method of preparation in the “old fashioned” way to get the maximum from your favourite healthy drink.
Pour hot water at 100C or 212 F ( freshly boiling) to black tea leaves and allow to brew for 2-3 minutes. Green tea is brewed in a similar manner but the water temperature should be around 80C and left to mix for 4-5 minutes.
White tea is brewed in a similar manner but the water temperature should be around 65 to 70C and allowed to brew for a longer period of 6-7 minutes.
If a strong brew is required from either Black or Green tea, it is recommended that you use more tea leaves than increase the brewing time, which will cause the liquid to become bitter.
Adding milk to black tea brew has been a tradition started in the late 1600’s and is today still very popular in Asia, East Asia, some western countries like the UK and some Middle East countries.
